A Unique Glimpse Into Our Pioneering Past
Only a 10-minute drive from the lodge, Arrowtown is a charming historic village that offers a quiet contrast to the excitement of Queenstown
History & Majesty
Nestled under towering peaks, on the banks of the sparkling Arrow River, Arrowtown came to life when gold was discovered here in 1862. While the miners have gone, in many ways time has stood still in this beautifully preserved village.
The Lakes District Museum on the main street holds the fascinating accounts of pioneering life, and a short walk along the river brings you to the actual gold miner’s village. There’s even the opportunity to try your hand at panning for gold, as well as many other activities in the surrounding hills
